At work each week someone writes daily prayers for the community of staff, administrators, and faculty. I was asked to write them for this week. I thought you may find them meaningful as well.

We come to You,
God of Heaven and Earth,
As we begin this day and this week.
In this world full of chaos and confusion,
We take time now to focus on You;
To quiet ourselves from all the noise
That takes up so much space in our daily lives.
We give You all the emails, all the tasks,
All the deadlines, and all the problems to solve.
And ask that You give us
Patience with each other,
Energy to tackle the tasks,
Perseverance to meet deadlines, and
Wisdom in handling problems.
May we focus on the good work to which You’ve called us,
And the mission You’ve given us to accomplish.
In You, and through faith in You,
May we approach You with freedom and confidence.
Amen. (vs. 12)

We praise You, Lord.
We lift Your name high.
Great are You and most worthy of praise!
Give us a renewed vision today of Your purpose for us.
Remind us of our calling and Your plan for us.
Help us to realize that all we do today, big or small,
Impacts Your people and
Advances Your kingdom and Your church.
Give us confidence in the skills and gifts You’ve given us
To do the work well.
To be pleasing to You in all we do.
Give us fruitful discussions.
Enable us to listen to one another with respect and love.
To be instruments of Your peace in every conversation.
To be kind and patient with every interaction.
Lead us in truth.
Teach us Your paths.
When we think of the wisdom and scope of Your plan,
May we fall to our knees and pray to the Father,
The Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.
Amen. (vs. 14-15)

Today, we will boast only in You Lord.
Let all who are helpless take heart.
Let all who are weary and struggling
Find strength that only You give.
May we persevere through all that the day brings.
When words won’t come and prayers are too hard,
As the newness of the week has worn,
And the reminders of all that needs to be done sets in.
May we feel Your presence.
May we sense Your hands covering ours
As each task seems unsurmountable.
Thank You for caring for us, for we need You.
Thank You for never leaving us nor forsaking us.Thank You for bearing our burdens when they are too great for us to bear.
We pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources
You will give us mighty inner strength through Your Holy Spirit.
And we pray that Christ will be more and more at home in our hearts as we trust in Him.
Amen. (vs. 16-17)

Father, You have called us to love one another.
As You have loved us.
May we see people behind every task and every email
Knowing that they are Your beloved children.
Forgive our bitterness,
Our anger,
Our hatred,
Our jealousy,
Our apathy,
Take it all away and replace it with You!
Oh, Lord, hear our prayer.
Oh, Lord, have mercy.
And may we have the power to understand, as all God’s people should,
How WIDE, how LONG, how HIGH, and how DEEP Your love really is.
May we experience the love of Christ,
Though it is so great we will never fully understand it.
Then we will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.|
Amen. (vs. 18-19)

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before Him with thanksgiving.
Thank you, Father, for seeing us through the week.
For being our Guide when we seemed lost.
For being our Peace when we were stressed.
For being our Comfort when we mourned.
For being our Joy when hope was hidden.
We praise You for reminding us that
Our work is Yours.
Our tasks are Yours.
Our relationships are Yours.
Our life is Yours.
We thank You for a few days of rest ahead.
Give us time with family and friends,
Whether in person or by distance.
Help us recognize the small joys that You lovingly provide.
Calm our hearts and our souls.
Refresh, renew, and revive our spirit.
Focus our eyes anew on You.
Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us,
He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.
May He be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever.
Through endless ages.
Amen. (vs. 20-21)
