So. A couple of things.
We’ll be spending the next week on a Bob&Gayle (Dad&Mom) memorial tour of some important places in their lives and in the life of our family. It’s a way to process the loss on this thanksgiving holiday. I can’t think of any better way to practice gratitude than revisiting significant spots in the history of the Griffin family. So this is just a warning of a possible deluge of photos and long reflections in the next week.
Second, FOOD will be a big part of this nostalgic tour since Dad & Mom loved good food and were both great chefs. Did you know my mom wrote/compiled a cookbook when I was a kid? She sure did! Many of you have been around long enough to have one of those. But for those who don’t, I’ll be sharing some of those recipes and notes in my newsletters so that you can try some of our favorites! And many of you know my Dad was also quite a chef so I may include some of his also. (Although there are some protected family secrets that I will keep!)
The first recipe went out last week so I’m sharing it now here. Read all about one of my go-to favorites categorized by Mom as “impressive for company”. (It would be great and easy if you’re having holiday visitors). And while you’re out that recipe, if you want to get these recipes in your inbox, sign up on this page as well and I’ll make sure you don’t miss any!
