Merry Christmas 2009 & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Many of you know that we moved this year . . . to sunny Southern California! Life has been a whirlwind since we left Chicago in May, and things didn’t quite slow down enough for us to get Christmas cards in the mail. So this New Year’s update will have to do!
In September, Matthew started classes at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena with the ultimate goal of a PhD in Theology and Culture. Many of you remember when we first started talking about this plan, but the Lord’s timing is often different and always better than ours. Ginger is working at Fuller in the Dean’s Office for the Graduate School of Psychologyand comes home every day saying, “I love my job!” For that, we are SO thankful!! She loves working with a group of people who have devoted their lives to helping treat and heal the emotional pain and hurts of life. We realize that parts of our own difficult path through life have once again prepared us perfectly for this part of our journey.
Ginger’s side business, Celebrations Divine, is also getting off the ground more quickly here than in any of the other new cities we’ve moved, so that’s nice. Matthew recently started working part-time with The Center for Bioethics and Culture based in the San Francisco Bay area and directed by our friend, Jennifer Lahl. We are so thankful for this opportunity, especially since it’s a cause for which we are both passionate.
We love the warm weather (which has allowed Ginger’s neuralgia pain to pretty much disappear completely!), a backyard for Bailey, and the mountain views from our home. And we’re extra blessed that Chuck and Mindy (Ginger’s brother and sister-in-law) moved to San Diego from Singapore in 2009, so it’s wonderful to have some family close by!
We’ve had to “unplug” a bit and downgrade our phones and data access, so we realize we may not be as “reachable” as we once were. But you can always reach us by email. (Don’t worry, we’re still geeks at heart!) All of our new contact information is below.
We’ve enjoyed hearing from many of you during the Christmas season, and are so grateful that you are a part of our lives. If you are ever in Southern California, please let us know. We have a guest room just for you and we’re learning our way around so that we can be great tour guides of the area.
We hope you have a very blessed 2010,
Ginger and Matthew
